Installing My First Solo Show

This Sunday I installed my show! I had my parents come down to help me because I needed to use my dad’s truck for transporting the table. They also helped me with screwing everything in the wall and placement. I was grateful because I could really use the extra hands. My mom and I packed up all of my ceramic pieces from the studio and drove over to Riverside Pottery, where I’m having my BFA show. I drew out a diagram prior to installing exactly how I wanted everything hung. I rotated between ceramic pieces and prints on the wall.

On the far right, I hung up my vinyl which is basically a sticker that has the title and my name. I had never hung up vinyl before but luckily I had a friend who was experienced at it. It was pretty easy, we just had to press it down onto the wall and use a credit card to get all the air bubbles out.

I set up my table with all of my plates and spoons and put my vase in the center. My parents have a lazy susan that has sat on our table for most of my life and I decided to include it in the show as well. I put my gourd on one side of it and then put a pinecone from my grandma on the other side of it.

Overall I think the show came out really nice. I like the set up and I think the whole installation is a great way to show off what I’ve been working on all semester. I can’t wait for my opening on Friday!
